Shows
Our science shows are geared towards elementary school audiences.
Each show features the comic characters of Tobasco Peppar and Felicity
Fuessenbother using circus skills to demonstrate key science concepts.
Shows run approximately 45-50 minutes.
Reduce, Reuse, ReUnicycle
(Target Grades: K-4)
Teaching the environmentally-friendly concept of "reduce, reuse, and
recycle" in a fun new way, Felicity and Tobasco explore simple, everyday
ways to keep the earth clean and green.
Can be accompanied by Trash-to-Treasure Workshop.
Isaac Newton's Circus
(Target Grades: 2-6)
Using circus skills to demonstrate Isaac Newton's Laws of Motion,
Tobasco and Felicity explore the physical science principles of motion,
forces and balance.
Can be accompanied by Circus Science Workshop.
Why Did the Dinosaur Cross the Road?
(Target Grades: PreK-3)
As two funny paleontologists, Tobasco and Felicity share fascinating
fossil facts including dinosaur behaviors, size, habitat, and more!
Can be accompanied by Dinosaur Dig Workshop.
Workshops
Our hands-on workshops foster kinesthetic learning and are modified
depending upon the age of the students and the sophistication of the
concepts to be taught. Workshops are designed to accommodate one
class at a time, but in certain cases, two classes can be accommodated
simultaneously (maximum 50 students).
Circus Science
(Grades K-12)
Through developmentally-appropriate activities, students explore
principles of physics (gravity, balance, and motion) through circus
activities such as juggling, plate spinning, stilt-walking and feather
balancing.
Trash-To-Treasure Masks
(Grades K-4)
To foster environmental awareness, students design animal masks by
reusing materials normally thrown away (non-recyclable). Using the
masks they have created, students explore movement by acting as their
animals in various habitats and environmental stresses. The project can
also focus on certain types of animal species.
Dinosaur Dig
(Grades PreK-2)
Using shovels and brushes, students dig through rice-filled tubs for
wooden “fossils”: discovering, reconstructing, and naming a dinosaur
right out of their own imagination. Students use deductive thinking to
determine their dinosaur’s characteristics, e.g., herbivore or carnivore,
flying or swimming, etc.
Residencies
Residencies are multi-day workshops that can either (1) provide a more in-
depth learning experience with multiple sessions for a limited number of
classes, and/or (2) offer a larger number of classes the opportunity to
participate in workshops.
For elementary schools, residencies can be designed to include a kick-off
assembly show for the whole school.
Residencies may be grade-level specific or for the whole school, with
developmentally-appropriate activities for each grade.
Residencies may also be shared among schools in a district.
