Workshops
&
Residencies
"It is a compliment when no children ask about having a snack
or going to the lavatory for two hours!"
Pumpkin Delight Elementary School
Milford, CT
"Every child at every grade level seemed totally engrossed in
the activities!  There was something to interest everyone.  In
my opinion it was the best Artist- In- Residence program ever!"
Webster Hill Elementary School
West Hartford, CT
Exciting and educational hands-on workshops from one hour to week-long residencies,
designed to meet state curriculum standards.  Accompanying study guides provided.
Workshop topics include physical education, science, social studies/history, language,
and performing arts.

Residencies can also be designed to culminate in an exciting school-wide assembly in
which participants share new skills learned during the week!

Circus Science
(Grades K-8)
Students explore principles of physics (gravity, balance, and motion) through circus
activities such as juggling, plate spinning, tight-wire and feather balancing.

Circus
(Grades K-12)
Students explore physically challenging and exciting circus skills such as juggling,
balancing, stilt walking, plate-spinning, and unicycling!  This workshop can be done
with either a physical education and/or performing arts focus.

Mask Theater
(Grades Pre K-12)
Students explore the cultural history of masks; design and create their own masks; and
learn how actors "support" their masks through movement and physical expression.
Optional emphasis on Greek drama.

It's Magic
(Grades 3-8)
Applying math, communication, and planning skills, students learn the basics of
performance magic as they make and perfect their own tricks.  Language arts/history
curricular tie-ins optional.

Trash-To-Treasure Masks
(Grades K-2)
To foster environmental awareness, students design animal masks out of materials
normally thrown away.  Using the masks they created, students explore movement by
acting out their animals.

Dinosaur Dig
(Grades Pre-K to 2)
Using shovels and brushes, students dig through tubs for wooden “fossils”,
discovering, reconstructing, and naming a dinosaur right out of their own imagination.
Students use deductive thinking to determine their dinosaur’s characteristics, e.g.,
herbivore or carnivore, flying or swimming, etc.
